What my music is about & why I do it

I'm more of a musical storyteller than a traditional classical performer. Jazz and pop influence my compositions and improvisations as much as classical music and the classical piano repertoire that I perform and record has unusually natural, flowing manners.

I make music to express my inner feelings - whether simple and unsophisticated or complex and deep, whether minimal or dazzling fireworks - my music is a response to life in all its joy, pain, order and mess. I aim to transcend the everyday and discover rich, non-ordinary experience, to enter a magical fantasy realm that offers solace and catharsis.

My music has thrived as a response to life's struggles. But it's not a description; it’s more a kind of medicine. When I communicate using music, I aim to “speak” directly from my soul. Unlike words, which can hide or manipulate truth, music imparts a profoundly honest message.

I love depth but dislike pretentiousness: so I make my music as intelligible, accessible, natural and free from contrivance as I can.
