live shows

I do live performances from time to time, both playing the keys and singing (I’ll post details about forthcoming appearances here). I love to improvise in front of a live audience. I enjoy the risk and thrill of generating a very natural, spontaneous and directly expressive show that is accessible and intimate. Every performance I do is different, as I play into the unique space, between me and the audience – the particular vibe in the room generated by everyone present.

I use physically modelled sounds that sound acoustically natural, organic and full of character. I might even experiment on the spot and play sounds that I’ve never heard myself. In particular, the software Pianoteq has a vast range of pianos including historic and futuristic ones. I also have a K-Board 4, which is a very innovative kind of keyboard with pressure sensitive keys, which means I can make acoustic instrumental and electronic sounds become organic, complex and therefore atmospheric.

I like to create a rapport with my audience. So I talk about the music… not too much though – music needs no explanation, but I enjoy creating a show that entertains and guides my audience along the musical journey or meditation as we experience it together.

As well as playing venues, I also enjoy doing house concerts using my excellent portable setup. If you’d like to book me, please drop me a line.
